LET me give you all the history of our India flag!! the way it was formed.

Every one knows that British ruled India. As a result of their rule the flag that was being hosted during their rule was called as the" THE FLAG OF BRITISH INDIA"

The Indian fighters also created a flag for their protest against the British. The first Indian flag was called the "Calcutta flag" or the "lotus flag". This flag was being used for the first time in a protest rally in 1906.

The next design of our national flag was on the go. The new national flag was hoisted in the international socialist conference in 1907.This design had 8 lotus signifying the 8 provinces of British India.This flag was designed by Bhikaiji Cama, Veer Savarkar and Shyamji Krishna Var

there was again a change. During the home rule movement which was formed by Bal Gangadar Tilak, and Annie Besant in 1917. but this flag was not widely used.

there were many flags that were designed by the freedom fighters.. but non of them last!!

then then there was the flag that was widely accepted. the tricolor flag-saffron ,white and green. this flag was designed by Pingali Venkayya in 1931.saffron for courage; white for truth and peace; green for faith and prosperity. The "chakra" symbolised the economic regeneration of India and the industriousness of its people.

Then finally just few months before our independence, with few more modifications,the symbolic representation of our country i.e our NATIONAL FLAG was designed by the great freedom fighters that a country could ever have.And this flag was first hoisted on our day of independence!!
